Disposal of lights & batteries
Information and advice according to the Elektro- und Elektronikgesetz 2 (ElektroG2)
The Elektro- und Elektronikgesetz 2 (ElektroG2) states that consumers are obliged to dispose of used lamps in a professional and environmentally friendly manner. In particular, energy-saving lamps and fluorescent tubes must be disposed of separately at a collection point or recycling centre. Exceptions are incandescent and halogen lamps, which may be disposed of in the household.
After the ElektroG2 the following products not may be disposed of in the home:
- Discharge lamps (e.g. metal halide lamps)
- Energy saving lamps
- Fluorescent tubes & Fluorescent lamps
- LED Lamps
- Batteries & rechargeable batteries
Possibilities of reprimanding old appliances
Old appliances from private households can be handed in at collection points of the public waste disposal vehicles or at collection points of manufacturers and distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG2. Under the following web links you will find a collection point in its vicinity:

The symbol of the crossed-out tonne of oil with the oil shown on the corresponding products indicates that these products must not be placed in the household.
Fluorescent lamp broken? What to do?
First open the windows and avoid contact with the glass fragments. Persons and pets must leave the room. Switch off the heating and/or air conditioning, then close the doors and close the room for approx. 15 minutes.
After a short time you can start with the actual cleaning. Leave the windows open during the cleaning process. Please use none vacuum cleaner, brush or hand brush. Ideally you should wear thicker rubber gloves to avoid contact with the mercury or injury from the fine glass fragments. All large pieces must be packed airtight, preferably in a preserving jar. Small splinters and dust on hard surfaces can be picked up with a damp paper towel, a wide adhesive tape is suitable for soft surfaces. Then place all the materials used in the paper towel in the airtight container or in a bag and dispose of it at a collection point or recycling centre. This waste does not belong in the household! Please allow a while after cleaning has been completed. Please wash hands and forearms thoroughly.

You can dispose of old batteries that we have or carry as new batteries in our range free of charge at our dispatch warehouse

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meanings:
The symbol of the crossed-out tonne of ammunition means that the battery must not be placed in the house. Often the crossed out Mülltonne is illustrated with the cuticles Pb, Cd or Hg, below the picture you can find the meaning of these cuticles.
Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004 mass percent lead
Cd = Battery contains more than 0.002 mass percent cadmium
Hg = Battery contains more than 0.0005 mass percent mercury. Please note the above information.
